The Big decision .........which Boxster ?

hi PH Community . sorry tried to keep it short !!
Ok I have a delemma , recently I realized that i am for the first time in my life in a position to get a decent car ,.. after travelling with my job worldwide for 25 years and have always had to have practical cars as i would have to park them on streets and go away for months on end, coastal hi salt areas , no garage etc. ,..but that has all changed ,.. so of course I decided to buy a Boxster , , I started looking. at the entry level stuff in my budget ,.. 2005 -2007. low millage, about 12k. GBp , and after reading this fourum I now know more about bore scoring and Ims bearings that i never knew exsisted , ( Im a female , relocating to the Uk with out a good network of friends with car knowledge , so I will be relying on this fourum to learn more about. , servicing, maintenance etc , buying guides, pitfalls, service records. etc.) So for peace of mind , I have moved on to looking for a 2009 -2010 2.9 version. . but now what ?? I have been looking at. anything on auto trader and this site within 100 miles of SP7 , and researching reputable dealers etc ,. and have a shortlist of about 4 that I will onsider test driving. next week . . but would appriciate input from anyone on here who recons they know of a Boxster 2.9 about. 18-19 K pounds within 100 miles of SP7. that is worth considering bearing in mind it will be an everyday car and doing about 6-8 k miles a year mostly rural driving so def want a manual not auto ,.. there is. high spec one at Autostrada in Bristol , sliver would be my last choice of colour but would consider it. because of the specs it has . ,..there is a red one. ( not sure about the red either ) at Dorset Jaguar and sports , the milage might be a turn off . ! The white oneat Cridfords caught my eye ,.., and finally a private sale advertised on Autotrader in Pershore , nice low millage with a years porsche dealer warranty left. im not really in a hurry , i would rather that i wait ad get the right car ,. but in the meantime Im driving around in a rental ! and im sure the more i look at the more confused I will get ,.. like i said Im a single female, not afraid to break a nail, and pretty savy. when it comes to learning about stuff when i have to but this is a big purchace of me and i dont really want to have to pay for 4 or 5 pre purchace inspections ! so ,. there it goes ,.. all suggestions re whats on the market at the moment will be considered , and will continue to do my research ,.. I now know all about. N rated tyres as well ,.. thanks Piston heads ......

The private one at pershore looks good value and if it has a Porsche warranty then it will be a better warranty than a lot of warranties that other garages would offer.
It has a good spec and wouldn't surprise me if a dealer bought it and put it up at £21k-£22k.
It is due its 2nd Major(big) service in oct/Nov that will be have to be done at Porsche to keep the warranty up and anything that needs doing under warranty will be done at the same time.
Otherwise I would say that as porsches are so individual I would broaden your search for a car at a Porsche specialist and keep it within 100 miles for private ads as they are more of an unknown.

Thanks , yes Thanks for the help ,. I did think about. holding on till after the summer as I figured a few more would come on the market , any. yes the one in Pershore might be worth a visit as it has an OPC warranty ,..otherwise I am looking more at the dealers rather than private sales .

Hello and welcome to PH.I can second the recommendation to join BoXa.net, it's a UK site and a really great Boxster community. Between PH and there you are a message away from all the help you will ever need, the BoXa folks also have regular outings and meetups too.
I can relate to that !,. I actually started looking at TT s and SLKs ,.. and realised that if i bought one, I would still be wishing I had a Porsche ,.. so Im being realistic and getting a 2.9. ( not even looking at any S types ). figure I will keep it two or three years and trade up .
Can't afford to get a decent one right now , but I can afford a decent hi spec Boxster , so feel I should go through the whole initiation ritual of driving a boxster and then be in a better position to trade up , rather than buy an entry-level budget 911 , which could tarnish the experience of ownership !
Thats not your Red one your trying to sell is it by any chance !! . The 3.4 S. might be too much car for me right now , also bearing in mind that Im reclocating to the and zero driving history in the UK . my 25 years of accident free driving have been earned elsewhere , so I'm looking at insurance quotes that an 18 year old would get !!.

No it's not my "red 3.4S". I have a 996 turbo X50.I'd suggest checking out what you can insure upfront, but not sure a 3.4S will be much worse than a 2.9. You may end up in a TT or MX5. Short term.
People chose the smaller engined Boxster in earlier generations due to reliability. In Gen 2 I'm not sure why you'd go for the smaller engined model as it's slower and has a worse spec.
If you don't like Red, hold fire for the right car. There are usually more 3.4S to choose from, they're a great buy IMO.
