Hi,

I am thinking about taking a VT option on my Audi A4.

Questions I have if I may;

1. If its due a service at the end of this month and I wanted to invoke VT next week where do I stand on this? Will they do me for servicing?
2. Has anyone got experience of Audi and paint damage costs they invoke? Mine has a few dinks, is it worth just getting it repaired myself and not being overcharged.

Yeh, Audi have one of these too i've seen.

I'm not sure i trust it entirely, i'll potentially VT the car and hand it back, then sit on a massive invoice ticking time bomb where Audi have taken the car (i can't resolve myself) and invoiced me extortionate repair rates for when it gets to auctioneers.

I "think" British Car Auctions do the valuation on the car, then take it on to be sold.

You are correct, they'll send an appraiser to you who fills out their damage report prior to collection. You'll get a copy of the report.

On the last 3 (of 6) we've returned have been billed £150 for a missing load cover (parcel shelf, costs significantly more new), £138 for a scuffed and dented bumper (wanted repainting), and £60 for a nasty scratch on an armrest. The other 3 went back without cost but showed nothing more than stone chips and very mark kerb marks on alloy wheels.

Cheers matey, this is about 10 times worse than renting a property and the dreaded Inventory check when you leave!

I just don't like the idea of getting to handing those keys over and finding out between it going and sitting at Auction they inspect more potential unsatisfactory issues. Or does that not happen?

It should be checked before/when you return it and inspector will tell you what's the damage cost. It's not lottery and waiting in suspense for invoice.

OP - how is the mileage against your agreement? VWFS are starting to charge for this also...not sure whether they can do this legally, however no precedents have been set yet..

I have VT'd two cars in the past, they have been fine, however I think the number of actual VT's are on the increase and they are looking for ways to claw back!

Best use a local chips-away firm to do a moderate job, as it really seems luck of the draw whether you get charged for dings or dents..
