about 8 weeks ago I put up a post detailing my experiences in getting insurance for my 968. you'll find it if you use the search function on the forum. the short answer is that there are tens if not hundreds of companies which it really does pay to shop around. in summary:
join the porsche club GB (if not already a member), and sieve through the insurance ads in Porsche Post of which there are hundreds
dont forget the majors. I got quotes from 14 companies by phone, of which 11 were "specialist". however the two cheapest quotes were Tesco and norwich union (online) who beat the best specialist quote by over £100. companies do a push from time to time and offer very good deals. NU were doing this when I applied, they may still be doing so.

I have been looking round for 944 S2 insurance and this is the best deal I have found to date which seems quite reasonable.

I found this quote by searching through an insurance search on www.moneysupermarket.com
I've also tried Tesco, Norwich Union, Directline and Carol Nash but they were all big bucks...
