Front brake Pads
Discussion
Morning all, so I fitted new discs and pads a year or so ago and they are just fine apart from the pads are squealing and its driving me to the point of needing to do something about it. I'm currently running Mintex pads, any recommendations for pads that not only do the job of fast road braking but do not squeal? Thanks

Thanks, where did you get them from?
Race Parts in Wallingford will get them delivered to you. Not cheap mind but make Red Stuff look like cardboard, had them and never again, tried CL and Mintex and both noisy so settled on Pagid RS14 at the recommendation of the chaps at AP.Can only talk on experiences
Red stuff NO good at stopping in emergency and were squeaky and personally I won't use them again.
Upgraded to CLs from Brummie (with bigger discs and his premium fluid) AWESOME stopping power! But were squeaking confirmed as the pads only had 4K miles on when I changed/upgraded again and they went onto my dads Cerb with new discs for him to take to France. He said the same awesome at stopping but were squeaky.
I currently run 350 discs with the 6600 caliper and have AP pads (using the mintex compound) and they are great stoppers but the noise pisses me off and will be changing after Decembers track day.
I will either be taking Gruffs advice on the Pagids but I also hear the Ferodos are good and quiet... also a bit cheaper

Thread resurection!
Has anyone got experience of the AP Racing pads that are sold by TVR Parts? Looked at AP's website and can see information about the various grades.
I can see the good reports of the various options above - CL, Pagid, etc,.. Just wondering how these more modestly priced items fit.
Cheers,
Brian

It's been interesting comparing the different options.
I discovered the RS14 has been discontinued and seems to be RS15 now, but struggling for data. The only other Pagid compound for this pad shape is the RST-3, but that's above my humble requirements. For reference my calipers are AP Racing CP5200 4 bolt, 152mm mounts.
My base line on this car is the Greenstuff that's fitted, so I was hoping to compile a single chart of my own of temperature vs friction coeff. No such luck I couldn't find any. Generally there are charts on their website, but they are not scaled as such, that were helpful. Reading reviews/experience of these they are really not much beyond OEM (if at all)
I noticed a few omitted the data below 100degC, but extrapolating the curve suggests some not so great figures. Keep in mind this is predominatly road car, that might see the occaisonal track day, I don't need anything too exotic, but I do want low noise, and decent stopping power. The greenstuff pads are pretty poor such that it was on my list of things to investigate
TVR parts couldn't advise which of the grades their AP pads had. Making a reasonable guess from the conversation, it's the basic plain jane APF405.
At 100degC 0.32
At 200degC 0.38
Peak 0.42
Pagid RS14
At 50degC 0.43
At 100degC 0.44
At 200degC 0.47
Peak 0.53 at 500degC
In my mind I was thinking, why not just chuck a set of 'usual suspects' on, but when I look at the figures more closely the Pagid at cold has the same coeff. as the AP pad at it's peak. I'll hopefully bottom out thid on Monday.

This is a moving target...The RS15 seemingly isn’t available either. So my options are RS4-2 and RS29.
29 seems to be the best but salty on cost.
The RS4-2 is cheaper but is more of a sprint pad rather than endurance so wear will be an issue and may be a bit noisy at low speeds.
Pagid reckon the RS29 will last 2 or 3 times longer than the RS4-2.

I used a couple of sets of RS29 when I couldn't get Rs14's. Another great pad, quiet, fade free and durable but don't quite have the bite of the RS 14.
They will not disappoint, gentle on discs as well as great stopping power.
I think CV19 may be causing supply issues as I managed to get some Rs14 quite recently.
