It has to pass the 111 Point check and any new owner has to have had it registered on the V5 in their name for 3 months before they can apply.
However, the current/previous registered owner still on the V5 could apply now.
Cridford service doesn’t affect this.

I have been investigating warranty options outside of OPC for a number of reasons. MotorEasy seem to be the best company available. This is a for a plan b warranty.
Key points to consider are:
- The claim limit is the value of the car.
- The PDK gearbox is covered.
- Dynamic engine mounts are not covered once the car is over 5 years old.
- The car will require a 'health check' showing is is mechanically sound.
- It is worth bumping the labour rate to £200 as you can use OPC. This is 200 + VAT so 240.
- If you don't want 'age contribution' (you pay more for every year the car gets older) to be a factor they can remove this and then 100% of parts and labour are covered but the cost of the policy goes up slightly.
- Investigations are covered IF the offending failure is covered. If the offending failure is not covered then any work is down to the claimant to cover.
I need to ponder on this and excluding the dynamic mounts is a frustrations. For my 2013, Cayman s 981 the monthly cost is £84/month.

Third party warranty doesn’t always have a great reputation on here. It may have been deleted but a certain M5 engine replacement case thread is why I, and possibly many on ph would never buy them…

Don’t disagree with that but a few Porsche owners have one with this company. Ultimately as you say the real test when you make a claim.
I have specifically enquired as to the known failure points and asked if the pdk box is leaking oil is the warranty covered, response was that if the box has to be removed to be repaired and the component at fault is covered all work and parts are covered. I think this is where knowing the restrictions and having a friendly garage helps.

Sadly that’s it. I just bought the car and it had a service at an Indy last month so not due for 2 years now. Also it has zunsport grilles and both Colchester and east london have said they would fail the 111 point check.At £2k for 2 years on that programme, you can cover the cost of the 111 check and OPC warranty..

To be frank, I would just keep a slush fund. A grand a year to exclude the only thing you’re reasonably likely to face (the dynamic transmission mounts) doesn’t sound great to me.
The little things can be sorted easily and cheaply via an indy if they come up, and the PDK box stories, while out there, are on a very low number of cars. The 981 has proven itself as being pretty reliable.

I don’t disagree. With all the research I have done PDK failures seem very very rare and to be honest thats the main reason I am considering the warranty. If they include the dynamic mounts I’ll probably do it as I am expecting them to fail. If they both go in three years that’s the warranty paid for. Also, other cover is helpful to have.

The grand a year I mentioned was the OP’s Motoreasy one. Doesn’t seem great to me, as it’s highly likely to not need anything other than tranny mounts which are specifically excluded.
I don’t disagree that the OPC warranty has its merits. It’s coverage is excellent and it’s comfort for the owner. The motoreasy doesn’t sit as well because of that one exclusion.
Still, these products make money for the providers, as such I’d take my chances on my own. I say this with 9 months of warranty remaining - I won’t bother renewing..

I agree and will only take out the warranty if I can persuade them to include the engine mounts.
Sounds like a good call. They’re not a wear & tear failure item. They fail at entirely random intervals… One of the ones on mine failed at 12k, I’ve heard of them failing at 4K and 75k so it’s hard to justify it as general wear. It’s a faulty part, and by all accounts, not fixed yet even on the 718…

I have to say I thought all the warranty prices were fixed.
ETA: I think it was £1,190 for the two year option excluding Porsche Assist.
