Not sure if this should be here or the computers area...

I want to put my NZ pics onto a dvd for playing (slodeshow or whatever) on a stand alone dvd player. Have PC, DVD writer, nero etc. Seen some apps that do this but not sure which are worth looking at as I guess half will be infested with spyware.

Pics are 8mp but I guess the app will(should) downsize them to 750x500 or so?

Bump!

I'd be interested in the answer to this to.

(I guess on a PC a PowerPoint is one option, as well as the usual Microshite Windows Preview stuff - but some choices for distribution, including DVD, would be nice....)

I have some software that came with my camera that does it, I'll find it and report back in a few mins.

www.arcsoft.com/en/products/videoimpression/ is the one I got free, it's ok in that it works but it sure isn't massively impressive.

edit:: actually this only does VCD's not DVD's.

www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/photostory/default.mspx

makes very good slideshows, but you then need software to burn wmv to dvd. I use mydvd, but just found www.estore.sonic.com/eng/photostory/default.asp?lang=eng

don't worry about the individual filesizes.

Just creating a Data DVD and putting the photos on it should be enough. I think XP has built in CD/DVD burning software so that should do it.

I put all my photos onto a plain old data CD and have never found a DVD player that couldn't show a slideshow on it's own - no cleverness required!

unless you want menus and the like, most players do it likewise

That's a great bit of software, but totally useless in the free download edition as it puts a bloody great banner in the middle of the image. $39:99 if you want it without!
