Anyone tried this (http://maps.google.com/)?

Go to satellites and drag to UK. Zoom in. Can't get down to very high resolution yet but this will come.

If you thought P'heads caused serious MG/Rover level work production fall off wait 'till you can watch your wife taking the kids to school live by satellite from your work PC etc.

Very similar to multimap.com 'photo' Not really satellite, more a conglomeration of aerial photos.

Not necessarily true - satellites can get down to 6" or so resolution, but you have to wait until the satellite passes over on a nice sunny afternoon to get a picture. Multimap use plane photos because they're easier to get and more reliable.

Try this lot for true satellite images:

Click search, then international city.

Annoyingly the highest resolution images for our area stop halfway across our garden - and are 2 years out of sync with the other half. Weird.

edited to add... beaten to it by seconds.. Sadly the free images don't allow you to go up to full resolution. The link Parrot of doom posted can be zoomed in by 64 times that detail with a subscription.

On the Google one, search for Google HQ ( Mountain View, CA 94043 ) they obviously paid for some extra enhanced images of that area

You need to click on 'Satellite' first.

This is quite interesting, I stumbled over it a few weeks ago. You can see earthqakes virtually as they happen, as the seismographs actually pick up the movement - often even before the scientists have seen them.

thats just google, they have bought www.keyhole.com it seems, i bet the gov can go even better..

I'm not sure where in MV Google are located, but nice piccies of planes on Moffet Field.

type this into google and it brings up lots of CCTV camera feeds.

with this one you can even move the camera around.
