Just about to get an 03 Tamora after my Chimaera is sold.

Quote from my insurance company is £1500 with £500 excess. Currently paying £500 with £500 excess.

Anyone know of a better quote as this seems a bit high considering I have full NCB, clean license and ain't no boy racer?

You haven't mentioned who your current insurer is, but Privilege were cheapest by far for me

Currently with Sureterm Direct.

How much do Privilege want (if it's OK to ask)?

For most people going from something like a Chimaera the insurance isn't too much more - maybe a bit more due to the value of the vehicle.

Try the usual suspects (Sunninghill, Mannings, etc) - you shouldn't be paying much more that's for sure.

Admiral... no no-claims bonus (not had personal car for 5 years), no claims, clean licence, ruralish postcode, 32yrs old on a brand new Tam, 6k/yr: £800.

3 months later...

Admiral... no no-claims bonus (not had personal car for 5 years), 1 claim, 3 points, 33 yrs old. ruralish postcode, on a now 3 month old Tam, 6k / yr: £910.

Obviously the latter won't kick in until this year's insurance runs out, but wasn't too upset.

I have to recommend Elephant.co.uk - £1800 fully comp which while it is a hell of a lot....

I am 24, clean license, drive a 2003 T350 and made a £16k claim last year so lost all my no claims... that 1800 while very steep is a lot lot cheaper than anyone else

Previous to making my claim Tesco were also a good bet. Limiting annual mileage, having use of another car and your profession seem to make a fair bit of diference....

This should make you all feel a bit better!

Best quote I've had for a new Tamora Red Rose with 7 years NCB protected is £800 + £200 excess. The most expensive has been £1900 + £200 excess. Both with NCB protected.

Interesting that there is so much difference in the quote for the upgrade to the Tamora.

When I went from my Chimaera to a Tuscan S, Direct Line didn't want a penny more.

I recomend Adrian Flux. Their quote for a Tamora beat my current S2000 insurance by £25. My premium was around £750 with AF. you can phone them on 08700 772 233

When I changed to a Tamora (at least 100BHP more!), I actually got cash back, the Tam is cheaper to insure than a Chim 450! I paid £580 using Privilige for my Tam, that's with no claims protection, legal protection, chan as a named driver and 12K (I think!) mileage limit. The MGZR 160 Chan had cost more than that to insure!!!!
