Business owners ..... can any help ?

Put a car in to a garage as it had starting issues and over heating issues.
Six months on the car is still not fixed.
Simple question, as a customer is it down to me to chase despite asking the garage to keep me informed or is it reasonable to expect to be informed about the progress of the car .

6 months? Cannot be serious. Must be more to this.

It is your car, therefore you chase them. If you do not, the garage will think you do not care and will put it to bottom of the priority list. How often have you spoken to them in the 6 months?

6 months? If we have a car on site for more than 6 hours we start getting chased, especially by fleet and leasing companies. On the other hand if you haven't collected your car within 24 hours we start to chase you.

Why has it been there for so long?
