So I have a Toyota LiteAce (TownAce) Noah and the front seats are really ruined (all the foam has gone and can feel the frame) so they are a bit uncomfortable to drive but still drivable.

So we found on Facebook someone selling some leather seats with all bells and whistles. So we took the gamble and bought them for £50 which is a bargain for 2 of them.

Now I didn't get a chance to take out the old ones to measure the bases (both flat bottom). I have now had the chance and there is a bit of a difference, the ones in the camper are 405mm wide and the new ones are 470mm so there is a little bit of a difference.

Now my question is could I use or make something using say 6mm mild steel plate and drill some holes and bolt the new runners to the top and bolt the old base using bolts (or weld) to that ? is this something that would work ? would it have some or any affect on the MOT testing etc ?

Or should I find someone to do this for me at a garage ?

I can provide some pics if needed

Cheers in advance

If you are confident in your ability to weld it effectively/safely, you are fine to do it yourself.

For obvious reasons, if you are not, then don't.
