What's the point?
Discussion
I've been struggling with this now for a while, but everything is getting a bit overwhelming and i am getting to the point of wondering what the point of fighting how I feel is?
What are the basic steps I need to make sure things have been taken care of so that I can just deal with what the underlying problem is?

Op check out the depression thread in Health Matters. Plenty struggling on there and using it as a bit of therapy. I hope you get sorted with your problems, speaking to people including your doctor can really help. What are the basic steps I need to make sure things have been taken care of so that I can just deal with what the underlying problem is?
I sometimes get the overwhelmed feeling recently when trying to attend to all that family life with the other half and two littl'uns, work, a house and garden that needs some TLC etc. throws at you.
Two things I find that help: breaking things down to smaller and smaller bite size chunks as necessary until you get to something useful that you can finish fairly easily. That breeds a little positivity and sense of achievement which might begin to help you turn a corner and see the wood for the trees. Then take on the next little bite, crack that too, repeat and before you know it you'll be back on track again.
The second is rest. When you're shattered you won't be good for much and it becomes all too easy to wallow in a negative spiral.
Actually, thinking about it there's a third too - a bit of exercise to. Go for a walk, run, ride or whatever works for you. Helps clear the old grey matter a bit and tire you out ready to rest if that's part of the problem.
Hope that helps a bit!

I had a chat with someone recently who uses the charity I work with, and it crushes me to think about how he thinks. Paranoia around everything other do and thinking it's aimed at him - truly a defining moment in my understanding of the condition he suffers from. He feels that everyone is out to get him and they're not.
Back to the OP, my one thing I can recommend considering is that nobody wakes up in the morning thinking they're going to be a w
ker today, so hopefully you can find some positives somewhere.
Forget the smug t
t complaining about forum choice - you could be sitting on the grid at Silverstone blocking an F1 start and someone (lots of us) on here would take the time to listen. Unload if you need to, PM any of us as we're all willing to listen. I don't know you at all, hence I can't judge or even attempt to understand where you are, but I'll listen

More needless insults.
t complaining about forum choiceCan people not express themselves without feeling the need to call other people names while doing so?

If you’re offended by my choice of words here, then I apologise, but I’d much rather be there for a random stranger not feeling the best at the moment.

Yeah, perhaps. My point still stands though - I’m here to listen. I’d rather focus on the OP than get into an argument around the choice of words used previously in this thread.

Amen to that. Mental health issues and depression is punishing enough. There's no need for an additional dose of supposed tough love.If you’re offended by my choice of words here, then I apologise, but I’d much rather be there for a random stranger not feeling the best at the moment.

Im just in general getting really annoyed at the endless cheap insults thrown back and forth for no real reason by forum members, that more often than not add's no real content to their posts.

You made a very nice post, and if that's the type of assistance that can help the OP.. great stuff

Oh the irony, I thought now you'd sobered up a little, might have seen your errors.Im just in general getting really annoyed at the endless cheap insults thrown back and forth for no real reason by forum members, that more often than not add's no real content to their posts.
You were pissed right?
If not you probably need help too.
This place really is the pits at times.

Yes, but to be fair, the chap pointing out he'd posted in the wrong forum was being a tIm just in general getting really annoyed at the endless cheap insults thrown back and forth for no real reason by forum members, that more often than not add's no real content to their posts.

One of my friends non-mutual friends (so I didn't know him) killed himself through depression about 2 weeks ago, so sometimes people cant just "build a bridge and get over it" - sadly, people's words can have consequences.
