Someone recently (last 6 months) uploaded two sound clips side by side. Excellent quality which made the clips amazing, both were of a Rover V8 based TVR starting up, fuel pump sound, then ignition and a few seconds of burle. I don think they were videos, I think they were mp3's

The clips demonstrated the differnce between sports zhorst vs standard (or possibly catted vs decatted - I cant remember which but iirc it might have been the zhorst comparison...)

Has anyone got both of these vids/mp3's or can anyone remember who the owner/poster was?

Ive downloaded every single TVR file from sleepy, unless it was updated after I did so, I dont recall seeing it there

Anyone guess who has a RV8, new sports pipes in the last 6 months, and an excellent sound recording device?

Click on the bit in the middle of the link I just posted - Simon Grimshaw's Chimaera. You can compare the sound before and after the JP sports exhaust has been fitted.

And the sound is getting even better as time goes by.

If time permits, I'll record the latest sound tomorrow. Hopefully Luca will be good enough to host the "6 months on" sound track.

According to the wife, it crackles and pops a lot more now

That's exactly how mine has been. It's a lot like me... it gets better over time

Nice one nuggs

Thats the clip I was after! 200% improvement, a stunning before and after clip, should be shown to anyone considering sports pipes

How did you record the sound, the quality is excellent!

Also, whats the super sports - regular act sports with partial sleeve?

No, I mean did you film with camcorder and just save the video, or use an mp3 recorder, or a mobile phone mp3 recorder etc...? I'd kinda like to buy something to record sounds myself, not sure what to get.

Errr... dunno. I have nothing to do with sleepy-fish.com other than being a bit of a fan. Sorry mate, can't help with your question.

I'd be interested to know how Luca got such good quality sound too, though...

The sound was actually recorded with an Archos AV320, but similar results would be gained from a mini disc recorder or the like.

The Super Sports is straight through, i.e. the rear silencer doesn't do ANYTHING (in fact it is purely cosmetic!). A similar result is achieved by ripping out the wadding and sleeving the perforated pipe with a solid pipe.

you could well be referring to me

I have a Ginetta G33 with morgan plus8 pipes and there were some recordings of my car on PH starting up, revving, and then going through some tunnels at 1.50mph

I'll go and find the link

edit: found it www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?p=6&f=116&t=156324&h=0
