KIck Down Cable
Discussion
Hi,
Had a bit of a shock yesterday - eased out into traffic after correctly setting my 280i auto's K/D cable - no acceleration!
Turns out that the K/D cable was seized, and this was jamming the accelerator movement -somehow the relevant free movement gap had mysteriously been set at 2 cm instead of 1.3mm....
Anyway, panic over, now looking for a TVR 280i auto kick down cable aka rocking horse
Anyone got one? I'm not having much luck in the usual places, including Granada Mk2, Capri etc.
Thanks,
Ian

Hi,
I found a company called speedy cables that'll do one offs, at a price. I'll try them after I've exhausted all other options. I'll try a local Capri specialist first, but if as Barrington says there wasn't a 280 auto version, well, it's got to be worth a shot. Then it's off to the scrapper, me that is, not the TVR...

K/D cable now sourced, thanks to the excellent and helpful Ford Granada Guild .
Strangely the replacement cable's inner is precisely the correct length (with the right connections), but the outer is a bit shorter. However easy to get round with a home-made spacer.
So, I've got my kick down mojo back, a quick poke on the accelerator and plenty of noise ensues

Correction, no spacer needed, I'd just set the relevant gap wrong. However a bit of fiddling and now all is well!
