Colour identification help.

Hello chaps.
I'm looking to respray my lotus 7 s2. I'd really like a petrol blue sort of colour as per picture below. Unfortunately I dont know what colour the one below is. Would any of you kind souls be able to suggest some paints that are something similar, pease?

Probably no help at all but there is a Hyundai colour that I keep seeing i10's in that looks similar and - to my eyes - very pretty. Like this;

Mercedes actually did have a colour called petrol blue. Google it and you'll find cars in that colour.

Looks like it could be an early 70's Ford colour, Marine Blue....?

Thanks chaps, ford marine blue is probably the closest that I can from my monitor. Many thanks for the link to that shop, its briliant.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Maybe I should widen it out to any 1960s dark-ish blue. I like the jaguar e type "dark blue".

Nice.

The Ford Marine Blue would be in keeping with the car and era given Lotus factory use of Ford primary colours through the 60's and early 70's.

Another option would be Ford Anchor Blue, which was their dark blue on Mk2 Cortina's (probably other models as well) in the late 60's.

it looks like BMC island blue - a lot of minis where painted this colour in the late 1960's

something darker would be Rolls Royce oxford blue, this looks anything from purple to blue to black depending on the sunlight

It definitely wants to be a period colour, and BMC or Ford would probably be the most obvious.
I do like it in it's current green and aluminium though!

The 7 in the OP is a much darker blue than BMC Island Blue......

This Ford Harbour Blue (I think?) which was often seen on 1600E's in the late 60's.



Then there's Lotus own Royal Blue which the Elan and Europa were available in





I think the Elan maybe French Blue though....?

Mercedes Petrol Blue is actually quite green.




VW did a sensational blue on the Mk 2 Golf GTI called simply, "Bright Blue".

My first instinct seeing that Loti from the rear angle was Teal Blue -

AIRC 'Trafalgar' blue was the '60's colour, particularly popular on Moggy 1000. Then early 70's it morphed into Teal for Marina, MGB etc.

Not sure of the difference, they're very close but I think Trafalgar is a warmer shade..

They paired up with green Mallard, which was the replacement for Conaught green.

My first thought was BL Teal Blue, but agree that the early BMC version Trafalgar Blue is even closer...

I was looking at RAL 5020 ocean blue. looks similar on a monitor
I will get myself down to my local paint place and look at the chips. Hopefully I wont get served by Steve Wonder (again...)
Any more ideas for blue colours for the 7? I think it should be a period 60s solid colour.
