Rust.... and rust. Engine is pretty good but these are all over 20 years old. They are cheap for what you get but have been for years which means great examples are rarely up for sale. Later X308 XJR has the more powerful V8 , similar price similar issues , much quicker.
Will take a closer look at X308s then! Cheers!P700DEE said:

This.X308 XJRs are ludicrously cheap for the amount of car you get for your money.
A good mate of mine (fellow car guy) just bought one for about £3,500. It needs some minor bits (mainly cosmetic), but even so, it's a stunning car for the money.
Also, what's not to like about a Jag V8?

With the X308 XJR I found I got 17 mpg on the commute (17 miles each way on A roads with 3 villages and some roundabouts) or 22-23 mpg on a continental run(cruising at 0.9-1.1 Leptons), 24 mpg was obtained in a 0.7 Lepton test, these reults therefore favoured higher speeds for cruising! At a 1.4 Lepton cruise the fuel consumption increased, but the car could have sat there all day. Mine had had some pulley upgrade of some sort too so was probably pushing out a little more than stock.
The handling is interesting in icy conditions.
My girlfriend used to love driving it, it was so effortless and great at disguising speed, but it was too big to hustle down B-roads etc!
