1973 S&S Swan 44

A friend of mine bought "Four Winds" in 2014 from lay-up in the Netherlands. Since then he has fully refitted, cruised and raced her. I was lucky enough to be involved along the way. Until recently she was kept in Menton, near Monaco.
She is a beautiful boat, in looks, classic design and build quality. As would be expected she performs well too. I would compare to a Bentley in car terms perhaps.

She is back on the water, unfortunately some of the work done, well was very poor, so taking action on that, overall, yes she is good, sails well, rigging is really easy and with almost 2 miles of rope it's fun.
It has been a challenge, one I would do again.
Both boats on this thread are beauties - but this is vintage yacht is something else - supremely elegant - i admire the commitment to getting her back on the water. My late Grandfather had a mooring at St Mawes & Helford River back in the day - 20 tons makes me think that spinning yours round in a marina like mylor focuses your boat handling!It has been a challenge, one I would do again.

Amazing how much space there is with that extra 9ft on Tigris.
We moor next to a Jeanneau 64 in the marina that’s prepping for the ARC. Despite the fact we are longer by 1ft the modern designs of yachts means there is so much more space and looks far bigger than us a big optical illusion.

Continuing the Swan love-in, I raced on Lulotte (55 Yawl) down in Dartmouth last week. We only had 6 kts TWS for most of the day but she managed to keep moving - picture from another day!

That's a great picture - although IOR and bloopers is a little before my time I like this image from I believe another swan:
The mizzen kite is a bit of fun but a pig to worth with. The tack attaches way up to windward totally obscuring your view of anything from the pit. When it comes down you have two Tylaskas flying forward at around head height too.
Combine that with a spinnaker staysail and then try to crash gybe!
