I've seen something along these lines before on PH but nothing came up in a search.

Basically I sent off an application form to a national company, included was credit card details for them to take their fee.

After a change of mind I rang them and asked them to cancel the application and not to take the fee, the girl in the call centre assured me this would be done.

Surprise surprise, today, checked the account and they have taken the cash out of the account.

Just spoken to the spotty student in the callcentre who, to my request for an immediate refund told me I would have an immediate refund on Monday morning. When advised that was not 'immediate' in the OED meaning of the word, he told me that it was immediate due to the office being shut till Monday.

I want to invoice the company for the inconvenience this causes me, has anyone any experience of invoicing large organisations and success rates? Sample letter would be great.

I am being bloody minded more than anything, but if we were on the bones of our arrse it could have meant us being skint over the weekend due to their error.

Advice please gang.

anyone got a fiver till the weather picks up??

Call your CC Company and ask them to refund it as it should not have been taken. They normally do this quite quickly.

I may be wrong about this but I would imagine you will get little or no joy out of trying for compensation as they have no real need to retain your goodwill and you will spend more of your time getting to the same position you are in now.

I would just chalk it up to experience...then burn their offices down...ahem...
