I'm about to put my s3 up for sale and don't really know what it's worth.

It's a 1990 s3 in dark grey (see profile) with fsh (not all tvr) with 85000 miles on it. It's in good nick. Last year it had a new rad and new water pump. In jan it had new tyres and not many miles since then. This year it's had the gearbox reconned and a new clutch. I've been under it and scrapped all the cr*p off the chassis and given it a coat of waxoyl.

I was going to put it up for sale at 7100 aiming to get 6700 to 6800 for it. Is this a reasonable price?

Thanks for any advice.

Regards,

Mark

I've seen in the trader recently cars for the same sort of spec for more money and some for less(having been searching and bought an S3 recently) Was going to look at one for £4.5k S2 good nick so it said, but in the end bought a nice(but needing work) S3 for £6k.Knocked him down from £7K.It's just a case of who is around with the money at the time and if there are many for sale at a lesser price in the trader also. There are usually in the Thames Valley area only 2 or 3 cars a week in there,so not a lot if you are a prospective purchaser.Have a look in the pistonheads price guide, might help. The other side of the coin is the fact that, like me,I wanted a good car, with a few tweaks, would be a top motor and money wasn't 'that' much of an issue to pay for the cheapest around.Good Luck.

Mark,

I don't think you're far off, although if you want £6,700 / £6,800 for it why not put it up for £6,995 - being just under the £7k figure is supposed to be pyscologically (sp) better.

Cheers,
John

Depends if you want to sell it quick and get paid or find the right buyer and perhaps get a little more?

I would put it in TVRCC classifieds, pistonheads and autotrader either at 6995 as suggested, or if you want a quick sale try £6400 which should generate a bit of interest.

Cr*p.

I've just finished putting it together and polishing it and have just given it it's first run since putting the engine back in after the gearbox rebuild.

Everyone was looking at me, the car sounded absolutely fantastic and went really really well (apart from a slight misfire). The gearbox is as sweet as a nut and the clutch is as light as a feather.

I think I'm going to keep it for one more year.

Sorry

Mark,

Good for you, I'm not suprised as when you haven't driven them for a while the first run always lasts longer than you intend.

Why not come along to the next Berks meet just off junc 11 of the M4.

Cheers,
John.

New borg warner clutch, new clutch fluid, recon gearbox and new gearbox fluid.

Shouldn't take more than a couple of weekends

Mark,

The next one is Tuesday 17th Sept from 7.30pm onwards. It would be good to see you there as I think you got your car about the same time as I got my first S. There are a few other S' that usually turn up as well.

Cheers,
John.
