I have devised a ratio for giving a level of pistonheadism. Only applies to home owners I'm afraid.

it aint perfect, but here goes.

take the price of the cars and motorbikes (including the modifications you have made) you own (company cars not included) and divide it by what your house/flat is 'worth'....

no need to give any values, just your percentage.

I came up with a measly 1.5%, but then my cars are sh1te.

0.05.

Bloody hell, I do have some cheap cars. And no I don't live in a mansion!

All our cars together are worth less than £10k!

22% but I don't need to do this to know that I'm a petrolhead.

My inlaws are definately not petrolheads, they score 0.75%

Bl00dy hell, 24%? That can't be right. Mind you, I've just bought hubby a brand new Hardly-Rideable for his birthday, so that must bump it up a bit.

I'm sure if you amend the figures to account for the proportion I own, versus how much the banks own, for both vehicles and house the percentage would drop a lot.

25% but then the real measure of a PistonHead should be your piston count.

Ie total number of petrol/diesel cylinders you have including any lawnmowers, weed whackers etc

viper = 10
vette = 8
camaro = 6
lawnmower = 1

total 25

But one of them is gaining value, and the other isn't....

Dividing anything by zero gives you infinity, mate. Either you are officially PH God, or you are living in your car (which possibly makes you God to some of our posters)
