60's/70's coupes. What to get?

I am thinking of buying a classic coupe from the 60's or 70's, with around 45k to spend on purchase & restoration.

I've a number of fast moderns, but the opportunities to use properly are becoming scarcer with all the speed cameras and congested roads in the UK.

So how about a cool coupe with rear seats for the kids that I can cruise around in, feeling good at normal road speeds and not see depreciating before my eyes. Its a weekend car only, so not too concerned about fuel consumption, but would like to be able to go on longer weekends away in it.

So the short list so far:

1. Jaguar XJC. Probably get a good one and enough left to spend on uprating a few things. Not keen on vynl roofs, but an easy respray should fix that.

2. Jenson Interceptor. Going up in price, but again the budget should see something usable maybe ....

3. BMW 3.0 CSI. I know its German, but BMW Cheltenham have a lovely restored one in the show room, really classy.

I am mad, what else should I be considering, which of these would be the best investment, why cannot not get XJC out of my head?

Just to refresh your memory of what a coupe looks like .
Also look at a Fiat 130 , rare at the time and more so now .

Test drive, buy, enjoy.
If you look after any of them I thought you get your money back at least.

My heart says Jag, but a good 3.0l Beemer would probably get my nod.

Go for an '80's GTV - 2.5V6 - waft all day, plus the sound of the Busso!

A better driver's car the the Jensen with a bit more room as well.

Some lovely cars in that price range.

An SLC should see you with quite a lot of change from your budget, but perhaps lacks the impact of an Interceptor or similar. I love mine though. The Jaguar is a good choice too I think.

or

The even better looking (IMHO) Fiat 130 coupe, again a V6 but even more underrated and under valued.

E24 6 series counts as a 70s car as mentioned above too. However, if you've seen an E9 in budget that would be hard to ignore.

I like the BMW635, but if went later than the 3.0 CSI it would have to be an 840 or 850. Love that shark shape and possibly the last good looking BMW before they went bland Euro box

Whilst I can admire that for what it is, I don't think I'd be looking back over my shoulder at it as I walked away.

I don't think they fit the criteria - from the 60s or 70s.
