Hi all,

Quite interested in the GTE and wondered if anyone has one and what their real life experiences have been like so far?

Looking at leasing and can get a DSG for around £150+ vat/ month with 2K deposit.

Thanks.

I have one on the way (Vertu were cheapest for leasing when I was looking a couple of weeks ago) - previous PH threads about them here:

There's also a facebook group - lots of Dutch, Danish, Swedish folks as they're very tax-friendly over there (even as a private purchase). And there's a section on SpeakEV too.

Seems to be plenty of company car users who got one as it was a big tax saving over a GTD but their usage doesn't give brilliant MPG. Then plenty of people who have a regular commute that fits the electric range and do very well.

Thing to be wary of post-facelift is that on the regular (not "Advance") model you don't get an armrest or air vents for rear passengers - but you can option it for £150. And the free colour (Black Rubin) now for GTI / GTD / GTE is a weird flat dark maroon / browny colour - have a good look at pictures or one in the metal. I wouldn't normally pay for paint on a lease but it was bad enough for me to fork out £280 for white.

Yes sorry didn't even think of doing a search as I didn't realise they were that 'popular'!

Thanks

I have one.

16 months old and 32,000 miles in.

It is great for short journeys, but for long ones you would be better with a dirty diesel.

Nothing gone wrong so far. Front tyres replaced at about 15k.

Average over the last 3k around 49mpg.

Thanks guys.

I was seriously considering the derv, but they at the moment they seem to be more expensive over the term.

It wont be used for major journeys, probably around 30 miles a day commute and some weekend out and about.

I think I'll pop into my dealer this week and have a drive and see what deals he can do against that and the GTD, although the £0 annual road tax is tempting!
