Why don't we post our "IDEAS"? To be clear, we're not looking for ideas - backed up by evidence or expertise. But "IDEAS" - off the top of your head stuff that you just occasionally think about and ponder.

To start - the bag free airport.

Airports should ban hold baggage, and just focus on moving passengers around. Bags should be treated as freight - collected from your house, and delivered to your hotel abroad before you even get there.

Planes wouldn't need to be loaded or unloaded, so could be turned around quicker. Bags could go on any flight, so long as they got there before you did. And the earlier you sent your bag, the cheaper it could be.

Planes would still need to be unloaded and loaded, just with less strictures about the right humans being on the plane. And you would need to triple security measures, as you have effectively just declared the UK airside frown Good thinking though, its a concept I have used while visiting clients on a motorcycle before. Not brilliant in practice, as have had bags delivered late or to the wrong hotel entirely.

Here is another "IDEA".

The dog vacuum.

A vacuum with reduced suction that you could use to remove loose hair from your pet - avoiding annoying hair getting everywhere.

New plan.
Dog vacuum.
An appliance that attaches to your dog and vacuums while your dog wanders around the house. The places the dog tends to go will have the most dog hair, and will therefore be vacuumed the most.

I like this. Seems like an 'IDEA'.

.
They pretty much tried that in the USA, by charging to check a bag in, so every swinging dick with luggage carries it onto the plane....

....and the hosties and ground staff watch them do it....

.....then the hosties come round asking everybody with a regulation sized carry on to take it down from the overhead and wedge it under their feet, so the illegal oversize bags can all be crammed into the overheads....

...in short, it is a stupid clusterfk orchestrated by the airline staff.

Substitute some of the snooker balls with exploding ones so as to make snooker popular again.

I'd buy one of those! Our Shark vacuum gets totally filled every day, when I clean downstairs.

Couldn't imagine a worse nightmare of logistics.

Turn up at hotel, find out bag was delivered to different hotel, it might be correctly re-routed in 3-5 days. At least it'll give the shifty baggage handlers more time to go through your luggage. Airlines have a hard enough time keeping track of luggage when it's meant to be on the same plane as me, I'd hate to think of the issues where the lowest cost freight driver decides he cant be arsed looking for your hotel and just dumps the bag at the nearest Premier Inn.

Realistically, if you're flying a decent airline you're not paying for baggage and at a decent airport you're not wasting time depositing and collecting it. Compared to the prospect of having to buy all new clothes at your destination its a trivial cost and amount of time. Even at a bad airport, the longest I've ever waited for a bag is 45 mins, most of the time its cleared customs before I have.

What is your next idea? Selling fly-screen doors to the RN for their fleet of submarines.

That sounds like a bad idea. A great 'IDEA' though!

Airbus and a load of luggage companies were working on this a few years back, good idea but probably a bit too radical to be quickly adopted

Taking penalties should be on the national curriculum in England. Every Friday at school end kids have to take 5 pens against the best keeper in the school. . If the don't score 4, they get detention. From age 5. That way, in 20 yrs, we might actually win a fking shootout in a tournament.
