Was hoping I could get some advice from here; my Dad has a flat high up in an apartment complex in NW1 which is full of furniture and personal belongings. Long story short, he's leaving the country and it's down to me to get it all moved to a storage unit 12 miles away. Im planning on getting a removals company in but the value and fragility of some of the items means he is worried about things getting broken etc. Can anyone recommend a moving company and also possibly give me a rough ballpark of how much I should expect to pay? I genuinely have no idea, I'd expect most places to be about £60-80 per hour but not sure if this is off the mark or not. Would you trust a removals company with large vases, china, glass lampshades and other such objects? Or is renting a van and doing the delicate bits myself a better option? I understand this isn't something someone can answer without looking at the flat but some rough advice from peoples own experiences would help give me some clarity. Will be phoning around tomorrow

I'm in NW3 and have used TFM Removals (based in Burnham on Crouch) - www.tfmremovals.com. They are by a long way the most professional movers I've used. I've no idea how much they'd charge but worth a word?

They've moved china, old furniture etc for me without any issue at all.

Hedleys in NW10 specialise in moving antiques and artwork. Use modified trucks with air suspension. Just up the A501/A40 from NW1.
Not cheap though.

If it was me I would be moving the smaller, high value and breakable items myself and leave the other stuff to the movers.

I would also ask someone you trust to be there at the same time as the removal company.
