Can you please share you opinion that which one I should go for? Fiesta one would be 2013 with about 15k on the clock and the bmw one would be 2012 33k on the clock and £1800 more expensive.which one you would choose? why?

I would like to know which one is a better driver car objectively ? I think the BMW would be a bit more practical for my needs but if I come to this conclusion that the fiesta would be a better car to drive and more reliable I don't mind to choose that.

P.S I don't care about the material used inside the cabin.

I had an ST3 for new years and loved it apart from the harsh ride at low speeds. It really does drive as good as the reviews say and it so much fun!

Never driven a 125i but the reviews are poor and a PH'er had one on here in Reader's Car section and absolitely hated it.

I also can't comment on the 125i but I did have a standard 2014 Fiesta ST for approx 18 months and 20k miles and it was fantastic. I would agree that the suspension can be a little unforgiving but I think that may have improved slightly with the later cars so maybe worth trying to get a late 2014 onwards if you can.

However, if you do go for the ST, you are practically guaranteed to have fun in it. It's hard to put a finger on exactly what makes it so intoxicating but, for me, it was one of those cars that just begged to be driven hard. The only car I have had which rivaled it in terms of fun was a Clio 182 with cup packs. I also viewed the Fiesta as a modern take on the Clio 182 formula.

To sum up, the Fiesta ST is a relatively small car with plenty of power, reasonable economy (40mpg easily achievable when not pushing) and it handles brilliantly but, more significantly, does so in an exciting way. It begs to be driven quickly but can easily do the day-to-day mundane stuff also. The gearbox is really good and I also think the car sounds pretty good as well, particularly as the revs get towards the upper reaches of the rev limit. You can also hear the turbo at lower speeds with the windows down which I always thought was a nice feature that Ford had not engineered out.

To put it into context, I now have a Golf R and whilst it is much faster and a lot bigger than the Fiesta (the main reason for the change), it is nowhere near as fun. As such, I find myself regularly looking longingly at Fiesta STs when I see them on my travels.

My car was completely reliable and only needed 1 normal service (approx. £180 at Ford) together with 1 set of tyres after 12,500 miles in my tenure.

Look out for ST3 cars if you can as they come well specced as standard.

You should drive one to see whether or not it is for you. I have little doubt you will enjoy how it goes and sounds.

I've found one st-2 with factory fitted mountune mp215 , 2013 15k, 2 owners for ~10k, it seems to be very well priced. I can see selling 2014 with 32K for about the same price without the mountune mp215 upgrade and parking sensors

I suppose it depends what you want really. I can completely understand why you would look for the mountune'd versions. However, when I had mine, I decided that it was worth upgrading it with the MP215 pack as it actually only adds 15hp since the standard ST (on overboost) has 200hp anyway.

It could be worth trying to drive one with Mountune and one without to compare maybe? I always wondered if you could fee the difference.

I'd say the ST would be the better driver's car. Only thing to watch is whether you are looking for something to do long journeys - an hour in the ST and my back is genuinely in pain for about an hour afterwards.

It will depend on what you want from your car, but from what you've said so far I'd say the Fiesta is the car you're looking for.

But I feel if I buy the BMW I would keep it longer than the Ford and maybe because of that I would lose less money

Why do you think you would lose less money? It'll probably depreciate more as it's not a 130/135i so less people will want it where as the Fiesta will always have a following, don't be fooled into thinking all BMW's depreciate any less than a Ford.

Go for the ST. I've got an ST3 and it's an absolutely cracking car in every way. As other posters have said, it never fails to put a smile on my face.

I've driven it on holidays to Cornwall for the past two years and each time the 5 hour + drive has been a doddle. More than enough space me and my girlfriend's luggage as well.

The decision so far is that I'd NOT get BMW 125i.
I'd seen a ST-2 in excellent condition but we didn't mange to agree on the price with the seller.
I think I'll be getting a ST-2 , hopefully with mountune mp215

I sold my Alfa Giulietta 2.0 JTDM Veloce last week, so I was also considering getting a Giulietta QV 1.75 tbi . Although my heart is not fully with Fiesta ST-2 , I'm sure it's a good car and I think I'll end up buying one of those.

Just returned my Fiesta St2 after 2 and a half years, and before that I had a 120d.

Get the Fiesta, compared to the BMW it's got a harsh ride, noisier, less space, but lovely to drive, well equipped and one of the best cars I have owned.

I got to drive an ST2 for a few weeks not long ago.

My views?

The ride is a little harsh at low speed but not as bad as say a Clio 182 Cup. There is just about enough space inside and the gearbox is a peach to use! The engine pulls well but I wish it pulled a little harder up top. Then again, most cars I drive now have 200BHP so that could not help things! MPG would be around 35ish and more from one.

They beg to be driven hard and at lowish speeds they feel like a dog hanging on their dear life in the bends! Yup, they are really fun!

What I didn't like was the fake engine noise at lowish speeds which to some would feel sporty. I also thought they were a bit sparsly equipped ; My 2003 Clio 172 came with more kit as did a 182! They had Climate control, auto lights and wipers, cruise control and leather seats over the ST! The seats I could like without but it did seem Ford went a bit cheap! For that reason I'd either want a very well specced ST2 or preferably an ST3. It's a daily driver and I like having a few creature comforts these days.

For me a lovely buy one would be an ST3 if they did them with the Mountune kit or get an ST-3 and see if the Mountune can be fitted.

If you don't like the sound, the "sound symposer" can be removed and blocked off. It is a purely mechanical thing and can occasionally develop a minute leak, reducing performance a tiny bit.

What would be the best option if I want a 5 door one? Focus ST? Golf GTI or BMW 125i?
