Odd car buying situation
Discussion
Currently have a XC90 that's aging well at 170,000 miles.
Looking for a car that a 17 year old new driver and an experienced driver can get insured on for a price that isn't extortion.
Budget is £10k for the car, insurance will have to be something else.
Now, the XC90 could fetch £2000-2500 depending on its condition and a valuation. It is a full spec D5 SE 2004. What is interesting is that this car is coming under many scrappage schemes that many manufacturers are currently offering, fetching around £2000. We had originally planned for the XC90 to be replaced by something different e.g. BMW M3, Audi S5/6, BMW E92 330/335i etc. But for insurance purposes it'll have to be around 1.0-1.4 litres maximum.
Options have been mixed, there is the Suzuki Swift Sport but insurance may be too high, unless I'm wrong?
There are some offerings such as the VW up! Beats 1.0tsi or the Polo Beats 1.2tsi. Buying the up! new from VW and benefitting off the scrappage scheme it comes to £9000, but I want to see if there's anything other than that, interesting or not.
Thanks
