Has anyone had a 4/5* meal around there? I normally have pub grub, or failing that a dirty Mac, but I fancy something different - and not a cheapo £5 curry as this is meant to be a 'treat'.

There is a load of new stuff in Tooting Broadway Market ( yes really ).

A Boom Boom Bap burger place was pretty good there the other day.

There is also Chicken Shop (not that Lickin Dixie Chikken type :P )

Also

Rick's is pretty good too.

You are not going to get 5* in Tooting ( I doubt its available in Balham even to be honest).

The nearest truly 5* is about 10m away in an Uber which is Chez Bruce on Wandsowrth Common. That is worth the trip if you are in Tooting.

If you walk a couple of hundred yards towards Balham from Tooting Bec station, you will come to a restaurant called Lamberts on your right (just opposite Du Canne Court) it's probably the best in the area.

Camille is a good Thai restaurant just by the station but I suspect a bit down rent from what you're looking for.

The chicken shop is a good call, as is Chez Bruce if you want top end.

Okay, think I will check out the chicken shop. I probably overlooked it before as 'Chicken' and 'Tooting' in the same sentence evokes aromas of kerbside vomit rather than culinary delights. 'Boom Boom Bap' sounds like a good plan B.

Belpassi Bros do probably the best Italian-style meatballs I've ever eaten, if you fancy something a bit different. However, Chicken Shop is truly much better than it sounds.
Tangia is also an interesting take on Mediterranean food (not the usual).

Firefly, the pub next to Lamberts does great thai food too!

My go to for a takeaway!
