Dog Hauling Estate Needed
Discussion
Sorry for another boring what car but I'm hoping for inspiration.
My current dog hauling shed is on its last legs, A3 Sportsback with 210,000 miles. I've had it for the last 7 years and I need a new one.
I'm looking for ideas with what to replace it with and I would like something:
Can carry 3 dogs easily (Sportsback does not), so an estate or massive boot/hatch
Fun'ish
Fast'ish
100k miles or less
£20k or less
Things I like:
Skoda Octavia VRS Estate
RS4 (dream on)
RS6 (dream on)
Focus ST (not big enough but I like them. I dont like the estate version much)
Megan RS (again not big enough but I like them)
Alfa 159 Estate
Other things to consider
Got a soft spot for Pathfinders (no idea why)
Merc G wagons
Dont like
VW
BMW's

My default choice would be a Mondeo with the 2.0T engine in either Titanium (or if you can find one Vignale trim) it's the best steer of the FWD cars in this segment with 240bhp to get it down the road & if that's not enough you could always give Mountune a call.
Mondeo Vignale (the one to get if you can find one) not the best colour but you get the idea.

If you don't mind not taking the sensible option then it has to be one of these:
E63 AMG (these are very reliable but drink a little more than the cars above)

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
Audi S6

There's a reader's thread on the above so you can get an idea of potential ownership costs.
If it has to be a diesel (I'm not sure of your annual mileage) then again it would be one of these:
Mondeo Vignale 210bhp version

A Massive list
Excellent list, thanks for taking the time to post hat. S6 looks nice but its another Audi, so would need to think. I may need a change

E63
Ohhh yea, like that. E350 - Yea anoter good call.
XF - Forgot about these. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for the estate version.
The others I'll need to look at a bit more closely but thanks for the inspiration.
No problem here's the owner's thread about the S6:
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=16...
Also there is a very obvious PH answer to the dilemma which is to buy a Megane RS 250 Cup for those drives when you don't have the dogs:
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
& still bag yourself a spacious well equipped estate:
Titanium X (2.2tdci 200bhp) Sport

E280 Avantgarde Petrol
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
E280cdi Sport
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
508 GT (Same running gear as the Mondeo)
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
Or a leftfield call are these (if you can find one with low miles) two:
Insignia VXR Estate

Passat R36

I had an XF Estate (DO06 BOX as a plate
) and it worked well.
Sold it as the buggers got too big now (Great Dane) and the slope of the C pillar prohibits room.
Great car though - Mine was a 3.0 Diesel Sport.
Good to here, mine are not quite that big (2 collies and a small lab).
