You might find this topic helpful...I'm guessing it's just an over priced paint protection coating. Personally I'd decline it and just apply a decent coat of wax.

Just finalised the specification on a new car and the dealer has recommended GardX to treat and protect the exterior paintwork and the interior.
Anyone know anything about the product or treatment please?
I think you should find this thread to be exactly what your after:Anyone know anything about the product or treatment please?

Soft finish e.g. Wax
Good, its easy to top up and cheap.
Bad dose not last that long.
Hard finish e.g Gardx
Good its last quit some time
Bad very hard to reapply (some need to be polished or even sanded off)
I am happy with good old wax, but if you are a laze ass or will not have the car too long.

Interesting that one of the threads linked to has a VW salesman saying they were targeted on selling it. When my missus got a Tiguan I rolled my eyes at all the add-ons and the salesman said the one thing that mattered to him was the paint protection.
So I said fine, go back and more or less lose the cost of it in the deal and I'll take it. Which is what he did. It's a dark grey car which hardly ever get washed and it does seem to protect it from bird poo etc.
I got it free (without asking or being told until collection) on my Merc but I'm sure the extent of it was giving me the care pack.

One of my friends is a salesman for VW and he hates selling the stuff. It's all snake oil - Autoglym Lifeshine, GardX, Supaguard whatever, The £299 you might typically be charged for a eurobox is all commission led. The valeter is employed and is told to apply it, the salesman gets £x, the sales manager gets £x, the DP and dealership get £x, the snake oil salesman gets £x etc etc.
If you rarely/never wash your car then get it. If you live in a block of flats and there are no Eastern European car washes around then get it on the basis that something is better than nothing.
If you have an ounce of pride and wash your car once a month or more then don't bother. If you must have it buy it off eBay for £30 and apply it yourself.
It would be better to have a £14.99 bottle of Autogylm/Meguiars sealant applied every 3 months by yourself. To do your carpets/fabric buy a £6-7 can of Scotchguard from Wilko.

If the paint finish is anything like as dire the one on my friends brand new GT4, you'll be wanting to drive it straight out of the dealer and directly to a proper detailer who knows what they're doing!
For Christ's sake DO NOT let them apply any clear crap to protect rubbish paint
(Edited for stupid autocorrect)

Mate ordered a new Freelander ( or whatever its currently called) and got the dealership to drop it at a local detailer. He cleaned, prepped and ceramic sealed it , then went back to the dealer. When he picked it up, a woman was collecting an identical coloured one and wasnt happy , as hers didnt look as shiny and nice as my mates car , which shows how well a dealer prepped car isnt.
