Hello everyone, fancy treating myself to a new/used watch with a budget of £2.5k. As a guide, I like chronographs on stainless steel bracelets and have been considering; tudor black bay black, sinn 140/240, omega aqua terra etc. Please throw me any other ideas/suggestions as you lot usually are a fountain of knowledge !! thanks Howard

For something a little different you might want to look at monopushers, like the C Ward C9 or Longines L2.800.4.53.0

http://wornandwound.com/review/longines-column-whe...

They're slightly over budget (thanks to weak sterling) and you would need to find a bracelet, but they're an interesting complication.

I just bought a 2015 bremont s2000 for a shade over 2 grand.

Impulse purchase whilst walking the dog and got an email from watchfinder, bit of negotiation and I got 300 off.

Shouldn't lose any more money from its 4 grand rrp.

Not the usual brands I go for but nice for a change.

If you can live with a manual wind watch then I would go for a Speedmaster moonwatch. Every watch collector should have one.

Omega Speedmaster Racing, an AD might not quite get down to your budget, but online you can find them pretty close to.

some nice watches there, thanks.
I see the "moon watch" gets offered up a few times, is this a better long-term bet than the aqua terra?

http://www.classicchronographs.co.uk Designed by a fellow PH member. I'm sure Lorne will be along shortly to answer any questions you may have. Fantastic versatile watch and Lorne provides first class customer service. #84 will never be sold but will be passed on to my son. Lorne kindly agreed to have his initials and DOB engraved on the rotor.

Omega Speedmaster would get my vote for that spend too.

Speedmaster Moonwatch (manual & plexiglass) as linked above was my choice when I was in the same position last year.

The IWC 3707 automatic would be in budget. It's smaller than current over sized watches at about 40mm (I think). I wear mine daily as a "beater"

You can even put "In the opinion of many" if you like. i was merely pointing out to the OP that a Speedmaster Moon watch is NOT an absolute requirement for every watch collector.

I think they look like they came out of a Christmas cracker, personally, I'd never own one, and I like to think I have a closer connection with the Moon missions than most.

Here are some alternative Chronos on steel bracelets...

This is a modern version of the 70's Tudor Monte Carlo, also available in blue and white:
http://www.watchfinder.co.uk/Tudor/Heritage%20Chro...

You can get quite a lot of Breitling for £2500 if you buy used, you can sometimes negotiate a good discount at watchfinder if you're not trading anything in and paying up front, loads to choose from such as:
http://www.watchfinder.co.uk/Breitling/SuperOcean%...

Sinn are good value if you're not bothered about having a well known Swiss brand, and all three of these watches will probably have the same basic movement inside:
http://www.chronomaster.co.uk/sinn/watches/chronog...

Or for a bit extra you can have a posher version with sapphire crystal and display back:
http://www.chronomaster.co.uk/sinn/watches/sinn-fl...

The speedy is the obvious choice though and probably what I'd have if I was being honest.
