German - Paw Patrol - Langarm-Pyjama für Jungen 3 bis 6 Jahre - Farbe Blau

DE: Paw Patrol - Schlafanzug für Jungen - 3-6 Jahre - Blau - Langarm Pyjama

Which translation is better (they seem very different in layout), they are both from separate translators and before we commision 700 titles I am getting as much opinion as possible

Cheers

What was the original text? I ask because each translation has a redundant word

The first says "Blue colour" rather than just "blue". Was the word "colour" in the original?

The second includes two (equally valid) words for pajamas, "Schlafanzug" and "Pyjama"

They are actually both OK, maybe ask them for a bigger sample, maybe longer descriptions or more examples

I agree with Mike, both look ok.

I studied German at uni and worked there for a few years. You really need a native speaker to give an opinion. Not only does it need to make sense, it needs to read 'naturally'.

I'm sitting next to one, let me see if I can ask without freaking her out (she's a client).

The client thinks Germans use the UK word but Germans dont agree - hard one - I understand blue colour / colour blue it was in the original but should be dropped. Were going to put pajama, pyjama and schlafanzug as keywords so the title will just say one of them but as of right now were not sure which one.
They sell a lot of pyjamas in Germany so we dont want to screw up his Amazon sales !!

Both fine to me, I suppose the strange format is the result of copy and paste?

Ah, I get it now. Personally I'd put Schlafanzug in the title and pyjama as a keyword

This is purely because there could be the odd person who will prefer it due to finding Schlafanzug a little more proper

It was originally Google translate from UK Amazon, then they had a German speaker in who did a crap job and now were trying to make it as good as we can - one thing I realise is that German grammer is subjective and three people can give you three different answers.

pajamas is probably the most international-speak

pyjamas is certainly the most English-speak

and Schlafanzug (literally sleepsuit) is to pyjamas what wurst is to sausages i.e. most identifiable to Germans and possibly speakers of German-influenced languages.

But - especially if accompanied by a picture - most people apart from Amazonian tribesmen or deep jungle pygmies will be able to tell what it is that's being sold.

Now you've put it in context - the question I would ask myself is which is going to be the most common search term?

Searching on google.de for German language results:
Pyjama: 479,000 pages
Schlafanzug: 450,000 pages
Pajama: 430,000 pages

So good work to include both Pyjama and Schlafanzug

I'd use Schlafanzug in the title and others as keywords.
