Need to get something a little more practical, would really like a S/H Rangy Sport, BUT don't really want to fork out 47K! so as I know nothing about 4X4 AWD drive please advise as to what else to look for in the 30K price range.

Discovery would be one option

Do you want or can you afford a petrol engine, V8 is a possibility if you like to have ."grunt"

Ask your LR dealer whether there are any Nearly New vehicles available

Some years ago, I bought an ex LR company demonstrator, it was about three years old but only had about three thousand miles on the clock. I believe that Land Rover have a loan fleet which they lend to tv and film companies to promote their vehicles

Product Placement I believe they call it.

Tell them who you are and they may loan one to you to feature on this web forum

I don't know why you wouldn't want a RR as they're no better or worse in terms of reliability & are as a good as any other SUV out there.

Petrol Alternatives:

Grand Cherokee SRT (this one is over budget but find a 6.2 & you'll have a very good steer)

Cayenne V8 S/GTS

I'd personally go for a full fat Range Rover Autobiography:

If you want a diesel get the bigger engines as they have more go & aren't really any worse on fuel:

Diesel:

Cayenne 4.2S

4.2 V8 Touareg Altitude:

4.2 Audi Q7 S Line Plus (some with the later 8 Speed box)

3.6 V8 Autobiography RRS

I'd go 4.4 V8 Vogue SE as better value. Don't really need the leather roof and electric back seats in an Autobiography IMO. Anyway, the FFRR is definitely a step up from any incarnation of the Disco/Grand Cherokee.

A lot to choose from
Many thanks for that much appreciated. Food for thought.

I'd like a RR but really prefer the face lift 2014, hence the 40K+ price tag.

So the search begins........
