Overall view seems to be the auction was less frenzied than last year.

Japanese, shiny interior, 160k kilometres, import duty to be paid. Not an investment car. I bid up to £10k and ducked out. Bargain was Continental S3 Drophead at £50k. Bloody annoyed auctioneer failed to point out the amendments to catalogue. That car needed up n/r.

It's never 'frenzied' but it was quiet last night. Even with the presence of this guy, prices were at lower end of estimates and a lot were u/s. Nice to catch up with the usual suspects in the trade though

Beers were a fiver for a small bottle ........maybe a few more would have loosened the scene

I was also there - loads going through unsold and those that did sell seemed to make the lower of the estimate. The only thing that went nuts was that James Bond Land Rover.

The Enzo was my favorite and went through at £1.6m. The F40 went through sub £800k (IIRC). The RSR and Hispano-Suiza failed to sell so a bad night for the on the commission front. I was talking to a guy I know from RM during the last few lots and he was pretty glum...

Agree.
Scrimping on beverages makes no sense at these events. They should be comped

I thought exactly the same, 2 years ago the champagne was on tap and the atmosphere seemed very different, but maybe that's just because it was a couple of years ago...i found it quite subdued last night. There were some good value cars sold without reserve. I thought they passed the F40 along with many others. Looks like the room saw bids were weak and opted to try and pick cars up post sale.
