CTEK charger - which do you recommend?

Quick question.
I'm obviously not wanting to pay the ridiculous Dealer price for an AM charger but winter draws nigh and I've read somewhere that they are just re-badged (and re-priced) CTEK models.
Which would you recommend please? MY14 Vanquish.

Is the 12v socket still 'live' when the ignition is off and the car is locked?

Another vote for CTEK MSX 5 - Amazon usually cheapest and huge attachement choices.
Either boot or interior cig lighter socket works best for me.
3 cars attached as we speak ,plus one quad and one tractor - I've become a bit OCD about them.

I'm with you on this.

My DBS is never not connected. Why risk a flat battery and end up with a potentially fooked roof module

The one in the boot is 100% not sure on the cabin one? Might check later!

+1 for Clive's charger. Had a couple from him due to user error. Same as the current badged Aston trickle charge but substantially cheaper

Hi James. Ordered a Vanq in 2015 and bought spare floor mats (black), indoor cover (black with silver piping) and CTEK charger (not from Aston as from memory was much cheaper without the badge). All unused still in boxes. Can't remember if the CTEK had the cigar attachment. All needing a good home.

Hi All, been reading through the comments on the chargers but don’t see anything about the chargers being waterproof, any ideas if they are ok to be left outside?

It quotes IP65 in the spec which is water resistant and that's basically good for all but submersion.

Use a bit of diy on a small Tupperware container to leave the charger in ?

I leave mine in the boot and close the boot on the mains cable into it. Worked fine with both my DB9 and DB11. Just make sure the cable is at the edge of the boot and not on the centre where the catch is. Doesn’t seem to damage the rubber seals and means you can leave the car outside all locked up.

Same here: water resistant doesn't mean the same as water proof, so I wouldn't risk leaving mine in the wet.

I got an extension lead and left the charger and cables in the boot plugged into said extension. Then just shut the boot on the extension cable and plugged it into a proper outdoor socket. Left it like that all of last winter without an issue (obviously used it occasionally etc)

Although AM recommend plugging into the boot socket I now plug into the centre console via the drivers window.

I used to use the boot socket but have drove out of the garage with it still connected on a number of occasions………..
