Hi

I am in the market for a Golf GTD around 2010. I have seen one I may be interested in but there are is no GTD badge on the rear. Is there a badge delete option for this? Its a bit of a pet hate of mine if badges have been removed but if not fitted from factory then no problem.

A scrote might have nicked it.

Hardly something to put you off buying a car.

Hi

The badges are stuck on if someone stole them would they use a heat gun to remove them so not to damage the paintwork?

VW do offer a no cost option of badge deletion on factory orders as I specced my Scirocco with.it as I thought the badges made the rear look cluttered.

As well as the factory delete, the can be "sawn" off with fishing line or dental floss.

Can also mean the car has been rear-ended and the badges not replaced.

Of course they would. If they were stealing your badges they'd take as much care over the paintwork as you do.

Thanks for the replies. The car has not been owned by the vendor since new I will have a word see if they know why the badges are not present.

My guess would be that one of the previous owners removed them. Either way, they're £25 or thereabouts from VW or TPS.

Why would it matter?

All the others I have seen have the badges on. Would it not make you a bit curious why there not there if you were looking to buy?

No, if it's a genuine gtd on logbook/hpi and it's the right spec who cares.

Would you care if as stated above it had had a rear end shunt and not had the badges put back.

I doubt that's why the badges are missing, when I bought a genuine boot for a mk4 golf, to repair mine that had been crashed into, the badges were on the boot and I installed the new boot leaving the badges on, does that mean that because the badges were still on, nobody had crashed into my car and damaged the boot? NO, because they did.

Debadging is a very common thing on cars, father in law used to debadge every car he would buy from new...

Amazing I post a not unreasonable motoring related question about a specific brand in a forum specifically for that brand and start getting flamed by internet hard men. Maybe I should have started a Brexit thread.

As one of the replies above stated, move on if it's not the car for you, there are plenty of GTD's available. From your profile it looks like you're a mechanic so one would hope you would know what to look for especially if you are suspicious of it being in a rear end shunt, hence the lack of the GTD badge.
