Learn a language. Apps like Memrise or Duolingo give you a starter, but a set of Michel Thomas or simlar disks of the language of your choice will be in budget.

2 weeks? I had my gallbladder out last year and apart from catching both norovirus and flu whilst in hospital, the actual surgery I was up walking the same day. Was yours keyhole or open surgery? Mine was keyhole but basic moving around was perfectly ok the following day. Obviously nothing strenuous, so playing rugby is off the list, but why not try making chutney (not a euphemism). It allows basic movement, not too strenuous and can be done over the course of several days in between naps (I will concede that post surgery, I was tired). Other options..

  • Learn a language
  • Write that 'novel' that everyone has inside them
  • Watch all the Diana and 9/11 coverage that's infesting the digital airways
  • Write an angry letter to the Guardian
  • Spy on your neighbours, even purchasing online spy cams
  • Find something interesting on the dark web
  • wk like a furious monkey.

A slim PS3 would do. Doesn't even need to be exclusively used for gaming - catch up TV, DVD/BluRay films etc.

OP, don't you dare post any gory surgery photos!

yes Ukulele. Dead easy to get vaguely competent, cheap and very cheerful, small and light so you don't strain yourself. biggrin

What you could do is sit around wondering what you're going to do about the awful side effects. Don't put up with the need to dash to the toilet as soon as you've eaten, don't put up with the anal leakage. It will ruin your life. And your clothes! Lots don't suffer like this but lots do and something can be done about it.

Eventually I was put on large daily doses of cholestyramine which literally gave my life back.
There is a thread amongst the health pages about this. It wasn't just me.

I don't mean to worry you but it can happen but no to everyone. My brother just feels sick if he eats fish and chips or a cream cake for instance. I couldn't go out to eat or in someone else's house until I was given the cholestyramine.
Look it up.
