Seat Leon FR 1.4tsi 125 or 150?
Discussion
Just after a bit of advice on this.
After a replacement for the wife, something bugger than the Polo she has now. She loves my Golf, so started looking at that and the Leon. Leon is the same car and looks good. She only does 5,000 miles per year, so not a chance would I entertain the diesel.
So looked at the 150 and 125 version of the 1.4. Now this is the newer engine, it doesn't have all the issues of the old one.
I then for a laugh got a quote through Carwow for new, to compare against 1 year old motors. amazingly enough they will knock 20% off list price straight away, making it the same price as a 1 year old car. But that is only if I go with the 125 version.
I am told they are short on supply of 150 engines, and discounts are few and far between.
So my question, nearing in mind the wife will be coming from a 70bhp 8 year old Polo, and doing the nursery run and to work and back on back roads, is the 150 worth around £3k over the 125?

Realistically - no.I would imagine you could remap / tuning box the 125BHP variant to (close to) 150BHP anyway, but i'd say it will be fine in standard form.
I doubt they would feel too different from a power or economy perspective, but what else is the £3k getting you? If it also gives you FR spec with better seats and equipment then it may be worth it.
My wife has a 150bhp Leon FR, coming up to 3 years old and done 58k miles and it's been brilliant, enough power to keep me interested when driving yet delivers late 40s mpg in day to day driving and over 50mpg on a run. The discounts were very good when we got ours so would expect them to be just as good now.

The 125 is the same spec in FR trim as the 150, just different power. The 150 has the EcoTSi and an extra 25ps power. That's the only difference. My wife has a 150bhp Leon FR, coming up to 3 years old and done 58k miles and it's been brilliant, enough power to keep me interested when driving yet delivers late 40s mpg in day to day driving and over 50mpg on a run. Not sure if too late or not for the OP but we just got a Leon FR 1.4 125 for £193/month amortised over 2 years / 8k miles PA. That also included metallic paint.
I have a suspicion this will be slightly less than depreciation despite the generous discounts available. Power seemed ample for the OP's intended use.

I think we may be looking at the same deal(ish) I want the convenience pack and adaptive cruise.I have a suspicion this will be slightly less than depreciation despite the generous discounts available. Power seemed ample for the OP's intended use.
Got a price through drive the deal, they offered 28% off. Mental discount, but the lead time is 30 weeks, I am told that is why there is such a huge discount. They are selling 2 year old ones for more!
PCP and PCH seem to be coming out similar price once I add options. So may go down the PCP, as the wife tends to keep cars for 5 years ish.
Saw a mystery blue one, which is the colour we want and it looks lovely.
Glad you can report back on the 125. It can't be that bad. Good enough for local runs.
