Looking at a 2010 C2S which looks lovely, great spec etc.

However it has had six previous owners...now I know that these things do change hands but is this just getting excessive and how much will it affect the value?

Too many for me, you will be the 7th and then when you sell the buyer will be the 8th !

a C2S is a cracking car, so why would it change hands every 12 months makes no sense even if a pre-reg car.

If an OPC car and you intend to PCP it and hand it back then a non issue ie renting it who cares.

If a 3rd party garage and you intend to buy it outright, nope.

I expect it won't affect the value when you are buying, but will do when you try to sell it.

if right spec, price, and from somewhere reputable with service history I wouldn't see the issue. Could ask to see the rev range data for peace of mind too. Of course, given the choice of a like-for-like car with less owners would people choose that one? Maybe.

According to 911virgin site average ownership of these cars is 18 months.

Seen lots of Porsches with lots of owners. As a surplus income purchase they're the first thing to go when needs must. I had to sell my first one after only 6 weeks a couple of years ago to help fund a house purchase that I thought had fallen through, which then came back to life a week after the car was bought.

My second one, bought at the same time as the 1st was a Cat D from copart, a 2010 with 12k miles.......it had 3 owners when the last guy crashed it, however Copart put it into their name to allow the private plate to be taken off, meaning that the guy I sold it to was the 5th owner in 12k miles, and the car had a salvage company name on the V5 as the previous owner. The current owner was the 1st guy to see it and bought it.

If the car is intended as a long term purchase and is right in every other respect, try and get it for a price that reflects your concerns about the ownership count and enjoy it. However, if you can see that it's possible to get the same car for the same price with less owners, or don't mind paying more to ensure that you have more peace of mind, that would probably be the way ahead. I wouldn't knock back a great car because of that though if the price was negotiable.

Best of luck with what you end up with.
