S series empty void?

May be a stupid question but stupid questions are more easily taken care of than stupid mistakes !!
BUT is the are between the front arch and the door an empty sealed void (the bit where the side repeater lives??

It's fairly empty, not sure about the sealed bit.

You should be able to get your hand in there to change side repeater bulb.

there is no void - it is a single outer skin possibly with carpet stuck to it.

I seem to remember that on my S2 there was an internal panel that separated that space from the footwell.

My 89 S2 has a single skin with carpet stuck to it, the inside of the side indicator comes through the carpet.
