What has Labour done for me?

Unexpectedly recieved through the post the other day a 'General Election Political Tookit'. befor i launched it into the bin as junk mail I thought I'd have a look through it.
Part of it is a white book 'containing over 300 gains made by the Labour Goverment'. The covering letter also states 'This will help you when someone says, "what has Labour done for me?", well the answer is there on every page!'
So for your reading pleasure I have reproduced the section on transport with the goverments 23 listed key gains. I've tried to remain neutral in this post and have left it to you to decide if they're good or bad.
258. 15% cut in deaths and serious injuries on Britains Roads since 1997.
259. 29% cut in serious child injuries and deaths since 1997.
260. over 2000 miles of new cycle lanes funded since 1997.
261. Rural bus grants now support, 1900 rural bus services.
262. 21 million additional rural bus journeys now made every year.
263. Over 550 miles of new priority buslanes created since 1997.
264. Rail freight increased by 24% since 1997.
265. More passenger journeys made in any year since 1947.
266. £54 million grants, switching 4 millon tonnes from road to rail.
267. 1,400 new railway vehicles on tracks in the last two years.
268. Every weekday, 1200 more scheduled services than 1997.
269. 19 new stations built since 1997.
270. 9 stations reopened since 1997.
271. £33 billion for railway improvement over the next 10 years.
272. £16 billion additional private rail investment between 1997 and 2003.
273. £52 billion for local transport in the 10-year transport plan.
274. Network Rail replacing 740 miles of track this year.
275. 4 times the Tory annual track replacement achieved this year.
276. Half-price bus fares for everyone over 60. £10 million spent to help the over 60's and disabled people.
277. New Train Protection & Warning System installed to cover 99% of the passenger fleet and 81.5% of the track.
278. Created Child road Safety Plan to redue child casualties by 50% by 2010.
279. Londons conjestion charge introduced.
280. M6 tolls introduced.

278 is also a missleading statement I could reduce all road deaths by 80% in 10 years now what are you going to do if I do not? speculation.
Its the same as we will spend £8 million over a ten year period sound better than will will spend under £1 million a year.

260. over 2000 miles of new cycle lanes funded since 1997. Made by painting white lines on the road. Bloody things are dangerous. An example is one in London which had to be removed to the deaths of cyclists on it.

262. 21 million additional rural bus journeys now made every year. But was this a good thing? Is it environmentally friendly to be pushing around virtually empty buses instead of using on-demand travel capabilities - like cars.

As you can see. I won't be voting Labour.

what has labour done for me?
As a childless, single person, who owns my own home, own business, own cars(ones a classic) and in reasonable health, they have very kindly reduced my disposable income by around £300 per calender month.
If they get in again I'll be looking over seas for sure.

281. Hundreds of billions of pounds spent fighting the war in Iraq and dealing with the messy aftermath.
They find the money for this at the drop of a hat despite unprecedented opposition from the people. How I wish this country would stop gallavanting round the world pretending we're still a major power and start looking after the people who work so hard and pay so much into the system through taxes!

This bit is true.
What they've done (for the people who havent figured it out) is lump deaths with serious injuries.
The stat of 3500 deaths per year that levelled out when they got into power has largely been ignored now as they lump in serious injuries to dilute it and look good.
Serious injuries are down cause less people are injured in cars in an accident.

Indeed, this is policitians taking credit for the improvements in car safety, especially with the trickly-down effect of safety features appearing in more second hand cars.
It is nothing whatsoever to do with their road safety policy, which consists entirely of hounding motorists off their wallets, and creating unelected bodies responsible for their own taxation rates through cameras.
