When I came to MOT my Corvette (first time I've done it) it failed due to having US spec lights. The problem was that the MOT ran out just before the tax expired. I converted the lights, but had to wait a week before I could get it tested again.

Since the tax expired at the same time I submitted a SORN declaration, but the problem was I had nowhere to put the car since it doesn't fit in my yard. I put it in my back lane. I know it's still a public road, but figured it'd be ok since it's out of the way, I'd not be using the car, there was still space for people to get past etc. Put it there on the Saturday night and left it.

I came out on the Saturday morning to take it for the MOT to find that there was a ticket on the windscreen for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Each saying £30 within 28 days.

Is each of these tickets a seperate £30 fine I need to pay? Is there any point trying to argue the fact that I hadn't been out to the car so didn't notice tickets sooner? Is it one ticket per day? It doesn't mention the specifics on the ticket. I mean, surely I've only commited one offence, right? Or is failing to comply with a previous ticket an offence? Also, it doesn't mention what will happen if they're not paid within the 28 days...if I have to pay, I'll pay, but I'd rather wait until payday

You will not have got a £30 ticket from Police for no tax. They will have completed a form and sent it to DVLA who will decide to prosecute and claim back tax.

What does/do the ticket/s say?

It sounds like either some other offence or it is a council parking warden issued ticket!

Sounds as if you have fallen foul of LA Warden and ticketted for fail to display a current licence. They may well have forward certain information to DVLA from whom you may get a communicate for no tax. May help your case to get it taxed asap and back dated to when old one expired. If done quickly when DVLA check on report from LA they will find it taxed.

There should be some information on the ticket as to who issued it.

The offence is there but consider writing in to whoever issued the ticket pointing out that it is a continuing offence and that you will cough to one instance of thirty pounds.

They may just wear it, otherwise......
