Just a thought , if doing any nefarious activities is it worth equipping oneself with a couple of tennis balls to distract the land sharks and make good ones escape ?
All the plods dogs do what they do just to get their ball .
Asking for a friend.

You'd be better off asking a serving police officer.

I think hes asking what would happen if you threw a tennis ball while being chased by a police dog. They are trained to do what they do to earn a play with a tennis ball so would they go after the perp or the ball would be the question.

I'd avoid any back handers that you could end up serving time for; best to make the minimum racket before you're court...

I reckon a burger would work.

I've seen more than one dog handler (on TV) giving his dog a McDonald's after a job.

15th August 2001 myself and a few friends were caught up in a riot (not participating just spectating) where police dogs were being let off the leash to pull rioters down so cops could grab them. We were given a load of chicken fillets from a burger van that wanted to get out of the area pronto.

When one of the dogs stopped for a sec beside us one of my friends gave it one of the fillets and the handler went bonkers when he caught up with his dog, dog seemed to be enjoying itself though.

Couple of years ago I was photographing a big demo in Newcastle. West Yorkshire Police had sent a few dogs up and I'd got myself plotted up next to one - huge German Shepherd. Seemed friendly enough so I gave it a scratch behind the ears, at which point it rolled over for a tummy rub. I knew the handler had had enough when she said 'do you mind, he's supposed to be fking vicious'!
