When I bought the car, I thought the gap to get in seemed narrower than on my last Chimaera but I wasn't imagining it. You can see the difference here just about:

Using a tape measure from the edge of the door glass to the door release buttons at full opening I get these measurements:

Passenger door:

Driver's door:

Looking into the door gap at the front, they seem to be mounted similarly so I can't see how this occurs. To change the driver's door mounting to open further, it then wouldn't line up when closed, would it? Both doors close OK and although the alignment isn't perfect (how many are?), I can't work out how an opening difference of 11cm (over 4") has come about.

I'm a bit puzzled by this. Anybody else have such differences?

At the top of the door just next to the top hinge on the A pillar is a double layer of rubber.
At the bottom of the A pillar I have 1 small rubber block. These appear to stop the door opening any wider?
Maybe one of the stops is too thick as a small amount of movement by the hinge will become much larger at the door edge. Or one side is missing them?

I looked down inside the door jamb and there is a little rubber pad about 5mm thick on both sides.

I was wondering if the doors were reattached wrongly when it was resprayed in 2016 but the doors wouldn't fit properly when shut if this was the case.
I suppose one of them may have been replaced in the distant past, and perhaps another one of the 'facelift' issues was to mount the hinges in a slightly different place on the door, so affecting how far it opens.

I really liked the Targa in my S2.
Fond memories of just removing the drivers side on say a sharpe but bright winters day.
The cab stays hotter smile
Seemed really weird having only half the roof. Very cool though.

No info there, just say they do (did) the modification and to call them for more details.
