Thread vein removal

My dearly beloved has a some thread veins on her thighs which she really hates and would like them removed or at least improved in appearance. I've said they're fine and part of her but they bug her.
After a trawl of the internet it appears the procedures available seem to have few side effects although there are a few horror stories mainly from using dodgy providers.
But the internet is the internet, to be taken with a pinch of salt, so does anyone here have any experience in this area? My normal rule is not to have any medical-type procedure undertaken unless absolutely necessary but am I being over cautious here?
