Hi all, My car was recently written off whilst parked outside my house. The settlement is £3000 which I have had. We are a family of 7 and would like to purchase a 7 seater car. Locally to us for sale are Ford S Max 2.0 litre zetec and a Mitsubishi Grandis Warrior. Both are diesels, and 2.0 litre. Both the same price and both come with full service. new cam belt and water pump, and MOT. The Grandis has some body issues but these will be dealt with by the seller (both garages) whereas the S max is less cosmetically damaged although it has some marks and dents on the bonnet. I believe that a Mitsubish although more reliable can be very expensive to fix, whereas an S max less expensive but more likely to need attention. As the only driver I prefer to drive the Mitsi, but will go with an S max. For us at the end of the day going out as a family is more important than anything else. Which if either do I go for and why. BTW I am limited in what I can look for as I only have intermittent access to an elderly Corsa from a family member which is very reluctant to go any distance. ( the corsa that is and not the relative)

Smax every time, the Grandis Warrior looks quite nice and has a higher spec but also has an unrefined VAG diesel and is far from great to drive.

The Smax is quite a nice thing to drive and as you say should be cheaper to run.

I'd go with whichever one accommodates your rear 5 passengers the most comfortably As it wouldn't be fun if they were all moaning about space! To that end which has the best seats, leg room, sliding seats in middle row and easiest access to third row TC.

I've got a s-max 2ltr titanium & as a big team bus for shifting the family about I can't fault it. Owned it almost 4yrs now and I'm going to keep it longer as It ticks a lot of boxes.
