Can people give their opinion on this. I am desperately trying to get to grips with my camera before I go on holiday. Hopefully I will have more interesting subjects than a pile of tomatoes but if I can't use the camera properly I will struggle.

Thanks
James

It may take a while for everyone to ketchup with this thread.

Now, remind me, are they fruit or vegetable?

I wonder whose pile of toms will provide the most entertainment. There will be no retakes of this picture as the pile is getting smaller. On a side note does anyone know what type of tomatoes they are as they are delicious.

Yep, that's defo a pile of tomatoes. If they're big buggers they're probably Beefsteak tomatoes.

Technically I'd suggest softer lighting to help diffuse the shadows.

The photo is good but it looks a bit flat to me because the backdrop has dulled to a kind of light grey. Also front of the toms is out of focus so maybe a narrower aperture would have been a little better. Looks to me like you have no problem at all operating the camera! Just fire off as many shots of different things as you can before you go and see what comes out!
