When pressed for time and no home made stock in the fridge or freezer, what's the best (veggie) pantry/store cupboard powder/flake/cube/paste stock?
I quite like Better than Bouillon but it's relatively expensive, salty and contains sugar.

Have you tried Not Quite as Good as Better Than Bouillon aka Bouillon?

I find it vastly superior to any veg stock cubes I have tried, quite versatile being a powder as well, you can use it as a tasty seasoning for bolognaise, for example. It looks a lot cheaper than the one you linked but I didn't work that out on a per litre of stock basis..!
The ingredients are reeeeasonably real; Asda have a knock off version which is hellish and is based on synthetic equivalents of the same list of ingredients.

Plenty to choose from here:

This is what I use and would recommend.
Also I live 7 miles from Corby, with it's large polish population, and have been very much impressed with the Winiary stocks, so if you have a shop near you catering for the eastern European market, maybe try those. The Winiary chicken one is much better than anything else I can find.
