went to the quacks last week about a few issues , and saw a cracking health adviser. looking to lose weight eat right and lose about 4 stone. im 16 stone ideal weight about 12 and have family issues on both sides with strokes and heart attacks. i dont want to be next in line for any of that . her indoors is being very supportive too about my lifestyle changes, i have stopped smoking , 6 weeks in and doing well after a shakey couple of weeks, just gone cold turkey. my bmi was at 31 so doc put me on a course of orlistat but didnt tell me that much about it to be honest. im eating much better los of fruit and veggies etc but worried every time i fart ..which is much more often and sometimes results in an oilyleakage.. thank god its only happened when on the bog so far , is this normal ?

Orlistat stops a percentage of fats being broken down and absorbed in the guts, the fat then passes on through the system and reappears at the other end..... Stools will likely be softer and easier to pass due to their oily nature.

I've often joked with patients that it's the fear of the wet trump that makes them eat healthier 👍

Orlistat, healthy diet and some exercise.

Do you actually need that stuff if you eat healthy ?

I was talking to a girl in the pub who uses it to justify Greggs binges, same girl that at 31 had her Gall bladder removed.

Well it does seem to be helping i have to be honest. i am watching what i eat too and i think its due to fear of a wet fart too hahaha. eating much more fruit and veggies and only cheat on a saturday. the doc said its a good idea to have a cheat day and eat something i fancy but within reason. until he prescribed it i never knew such a thing existed. I also have high blood pressure and that has been coming down recently too. possibly due to eating better. i would never advise using the tablets in order to eat crap though. seems to miss the point and have been told if you use it for that reason you will literally drip arse grease.

as others said it's a fat blocker/inhibitor. anything that your body does't digest it comes out your but. as it's not digesting it'll make your farts stink and stools be fatty and floaty. the more fat in the food the worser it is.

I've never used it but each to their own. fair enough if it works for you to help give you a calorie deficit.

It's normal with oelistat, if you look in the toilet you'll see an oily film on the surface.
