As I change my mind more often than I have hot dinners, I am now looking at cheap Premier EP3 Type Rs.

There is one on eBay currently at 2600 that I imagine will go for between 3500 and 4000. 92k miles 05. Seller mentioned some touch up work to the sills and sent me a few photos. It looks minor, but would it put you off?

Not looking pretty at all.

If it was mine, I'd definitely be peeling back the arch liner, and removing the tupperware to see how bad it is underneath.
If I was looking at buying, I'd be walking on.

Find my recent thread on this section of the forum because that will show you what happens very very quickly. My accord looked not too dissimilar to that when I bought it.

DANGER!!!DANGER!!!

Back away fast, unless you like the idea of spending over a grand on bodywork.

when it comes to shopping for 10 year old + japanese cars, you basically don't want a spot of rust anywhere on the bodywork, as it will get worse, and you will end up having to shell out to fix it.

I've been through the rust restoration process on a couple of older rare jap cars, it is painful and expensive, and you're forever chasing rust. I spent around £5k getting a Mitsubishi Mirage asti back on its feet, never again.

Hondas seem to fare considerably better than Mazda and Nissan though, so that's on your side. Plenty of rust free EP3s out there!

Plenty of tatty ones too, and some are asking for silly money for decent ones!

The market for collectible jap metal is pretty buoyant, you kind of have to be prepared to pay the asking for good ones. Anything low mileage, immaculate, and Type R is going to fetch top money.

A gorgeous mostly unmodified black pre-facelift DC5 sold yesterday, 37k miles. It was up for £11,000....sold within 2 weeks.

I think there's a slight difference between a 37k mile DC5 and a 100k mile EP3 laugh. Plenty about, but a lot are tatty or modified.

How much should I be paying for a 70-100k, clean, stock, 05/06 Premier EP3?

compared to an s2k and dc5 they're a step down in desirability, so i would hope you could pick up an immaculate one for £6k or less.

A quick scan of the classifieds shows them ranging between £2k and £8k (madness), so somewhere in the middle of that seems a sensible goal.
