Hi - recently got myself an '06 plate S6 Avant - 5.2l V10 smile

2 things - i get odd warning lights that then tend to disappear on the way back to the bloody garage i bought it from after being on for a week! Then re-appear.
Does anyone have any advice on getting a DIY code reader/cable for one of these? My laptop would need to download any apps as hasnt got a CD ROM - eBay appears to have 7000 options so any pointers appreciated.

Has anyone managed to get a way to have phone music played through the stereo? I've currently dug out my old CD collection which is enjoyable in part but will soon get boring.

Either way - loving the car. A chilled out cruiser. MPG is unsurprising in its abjectness.

On my old A6 2003 I connected an Dension kit 300 which worked well.

The A6 is dead but I still have the Dension kit.

Yours if you want it, just make me an offer I cannot resist.

I think you can get an OBD reader which can connect to your phone through bluetooth if you have an Apple or android phone.

I've had two C6 S6 and the second one I bought with the EML on. Turned out to be a faulty manifold flap mechanism. My mechanic mate took it apart and one of the pins on the flaps, wiped the error code and its been fine ever since.

I am interested in the music options. I have an aftermarket ipod connector in the CD changer and want to put a Bluetooth dongle on it but the two from Ebay I have tried no worky!

OP - if you plan on keeping the car a while it might be worth investing in VCDS. Generic code readers are good for basic stuff but you can do a lot more with VCDS. Case in point my V10 kept going into limp mode with a ESP fault. Garage said it was "possibly" the throttle body. Was going to be £1K for a new body plus the fitting. I got one for £50 from a scrappy where someone had binned their S6 and with VCDS could run the adaptation. All fixed

Will have a look into it - looks to be around £250 for a VCDS?
