So I'm back in the market for a new toy on a bit of a budget and for some unknown reason I still have a hankering for a wedge despite my 2 previous experiences!

It makes zero practical sense and despite me reading about reliable wedges I suspect I'd get stranded at some point but I still think they're stunning cars.

A 400 this time if anything but nothing really about - there was an ultra clean one in Dorset but looks like it's come off the market

Somebody talk me out of it!!

Hi Scott, It says bidding has ended on the 400 on flea but doesn't say it's not available. Might be worth contacting the seller?

Bit more expensive but it's been for sale on and off for a while so he may be receptive to an offer ???

Here is a picture of both my BMW and the Wedge together. The Wedge is prepared and ready for tomorrows trip. I love both of my V8 cars but nothing is quite as fun as the TVR. I just wish I could say that about it's reliability too, but I guess it's all a part of the fun.

This is my fifth Wedge and the most reliable one I've had. In the two and half years I've owned it, it's never let me down. It starts first time every time, hot or cold and drives like bat out of hell. I was comparing it's reliability against the 645CI. The BMW is like a quality Swiss watch and nothing's ever gone wrong in the six years I've own it. The TVR however is a hands on car. Minor things need correcting regularly, but like I say it's all a part of the fun of TVR ownership.

Tony what you have isn't a wedge! It can't be!!! It's too reliable.

Don't forget the Wedge for me is a weekend car, so I don't do a lot of miles. Given that it started off reliable when I got it, and that I don't mess around with it, this particular car has been very reliable. I haven't even seen the ECU or the fuse box yet. I'm assuming it has got both. I have had a universal joint changed on the drive shaft, a few hoses replaced, electric windows greased up and refreshed, gearbox and engine oil and filters replaced along with a few other things serviced or replaced along the way. It does continually need things doing though unlike my BMW which never ever seems to go wrong. However, I do know how troublesome a Wedge can be as I've had problems with a couple I had before.

Tony - I think you must've quoted me and been typing while i was editing to remove your quote! Totally understand where you're coming from - apologies.

Dorset car still available going back on eBay @9k I believe. A couple of other excellent looking cars have come forward - let's see if I break out in a cold sweat when I see one in the flesh again lol!

No apology needed. It's very difficult to express something on a forum and sometimes comes across wrongly or misunderstood by people.

I enjoy Wedge ownership and always have done, as you well know yourself Wedges are addictive. I've had all sorts of problems with Wedges in the past and always managed to find a solution with the help of others on the forum etc. The Wedge I have now has been good as far as Wedges go, and I can't really complain. My advice to you is the take your time and view as many as you can before you make a decision. I know there isn't a great choice at the moment but once you put the word out that you are looking for one, you'll find several will surface. See as many as you can and pick the one that suits you best. I know you are mechanically capable so one that needs a bit of work may suit you better and is likely to be a lower price. I don't need to tell you what to look for so good luck in your search and I do hope you find what you're looking for.
